The Orphan Cottages are designed to be a home for 25 children. They provide a large room with place for 13 bunk beds, an armoire for every 2 children, and a large space in the middle of the room for study/prayer time. It also has a sick room for children suffering from stomach problems, with skin irritations or anything that they may need to be kept separate until they are better. The sick room holds 4 beds. A clinic/hospital is also planned to care for children with more serious illnesses that need to be monitored. The house parents are provided separate sleeping quarters, as well as a separate bathroom and kitchen for their family. The house has bathing rooms and toilets in the back and a place for washing and drying clothes. The children will be taught how to wash their own clothes, bathe and care for their home by their house parents. We know this will help to raise them into responsible parents, wives, and husbands for their future. Our desire is that life should not be “too easy” for them, that they can not survive without all the comforts that homes sometimes give, but that they are prepared to one day live independently in society and to go out on their own into the world.

RUSA has purchased 20 acres for the campus of the home. We will build an orphan cottage for every 25 children. They will be cared for by house parents - couples, or widows - who are called to minister to children in this capacity. It is a huge job to care and bring up 25 children who have been abused and never loved. The final plan for the campus is 40 cottages to provide homes for the 1000 children. A clinic, school, church and playgrounds are also included in the plans.
